Learning to Drive

The obvious advantage of learning how to drive is of course developing the ability to drive a car by yourself. Driving a car can help you get to places quickly, and safely. Driving is a skill that can instil confidence.

Driving rules and regulations vary in different countries. While some differences are minor, some may be major. For example, in America and some other countries, vehicles are driven in the right lane, where as in the UK and many other countries, cars are driven on the left lane of the road. Find out what the Alberta car laws are before driving there.

Driving tests are also different in different places around the world. However, the fundamental aim of a driving test is to make sure that the learner has enough knowledge of driving to be able to drive on the road safely. This knowledge must include both the theory of driving, such as rules, road signs etc. and of course the technical skill of driving a car.

Practical driving involves not just the basics of driving on a straight road, but also different ways of manoeuvering a vehicle. When you're driving on the road, you will not only encounter straight and level roads, but slopes as well as winding roads. You will need to be able to learn how to reverse, turn at various angles, as well as drive on extreme and mild slopes.
